Our blacksmithing courses offer hands-on time at the forge, working with hot steel, simple tools, and traditional methods. Courses range from short, accessible introductions for complete beginners to more involved, physically demanding multi-day courses for those looking to go deeper into the craft.
All courses are taught in our traditional teaching forge using hand tools, bellows, and coal fires, with small group sizes to ensure proper guidance and time at the anvil.
Course intensity varies. Some courses are designed as gentle introductions, while others involve sustained physical work over a full day or more, including the use of heavier tools. Individual course pages outline what’s involved so you can choose something that suits your interest, experience, and fitness.
Courses typically run with a maximum of six participants, with one fire and anvil per person. This allows for focused teaching, a steady pace, and proper hands-on learning rather than demonstration.
Courses are taught by our in-house tutors, Bex Simon and Dave Harris, alongside occasional guest tutors who run specialist sessions throughout the year.
